The East Coast Walkers, a CMU student organization — will make the 95-day journey from Miami to Boston beginning May 6 in an effort to raise awareness about sexual violence.
The walkers are currently working to secure funding for their journey, which is expected to cost $8,000. Any additional funds collected will be contributed to the Isabella County Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner to assist with the continuation of free evidence exams.
The East Coast Walkers exist to educate and enlighten all people on the frequency and dynamics of sexual violence in order to create an educated society and reduce the occurrence of acts of sexual violence. Furthermore, the organization aims to provide funding to staff of the Isabella County Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and provide rape evidence exams for survivors of sexual assault at no cost to the survivor.
